Hackler Golf Course at CCU
The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University is located just a few miles inland from central Myrtle Beach off of Highway 501 and very much in the center of the Grand Strand. Originally designed by Gene Hamm, the course opened in 1968 as Quail Creek Golf Club. After Craig Schreiner completed a renovation project to the course in 2011, it was renamed the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University after General James “Jim” Hackler, a longtime benefactor of the university’s who invented the golf package and was a long-time institution in the Grand Strand golf community. Schreiner’s renovation restored some of the teeth and intrigue in the golf course and now more than ever, it is one that many visitors seek to play on their Myrtle Beach golf vacations.
